Spring Cleaning With LaZboy & Rowes Toowoomba
September. Spring. It's when Australians collectively decide they’ve had enough of looking at the same piles of rubbish around the house that they’ve been ignoring since May.
The weather gets nice, the windows come open, birds start making noise for absolutely no reason, and suddenly everyone’s like, “We should really freshen the house up.”
Why? Because apparently the house needs to reflect the season.
Meanwhile, the house is sitting there like, “Mate, I’ve been exactly like this for six months. You knew. Don't try to change me.”
Spring cleaning is basically a yearly attempt to convince yourself that you are a functional adult.
You start with confidence. You grab the vacuum. You open the curtains. You wipe down a bench that hasn’t seen a cleaning product since the previous government.
Then you notice the couch. The couch is always the problem. Especially if you’ve got a LaZboy. Because LaZboy furniture is incredibly comfortable, which is great right up until you decide you’re going to clean the house.
You sit down for five minutes.
It's only five minutes.
Just to “have a think.”
Next thing you know, you’re in a lazy boy recliner, feet up, remote in your hand, staring at a television show about a bloke restoring a 1967 tractor.
You don’t even like tractors.
But you’re comfortable now.
The cleaning can wait.
That’s the danger of a good recliner. It removes your ability to make decisions.
A normal chair says, “You should probably stand up and be a functioning member of society.”
A recliner says, “What if you just became part of the furniture? Then you wouldn't NEED society!”
And honestly, if you’re shopping around for lounge suites Toowoomba, this is something they should legally have to tell you.
“Warning: This couch may cause you to abandon your responsibilities.”
Eventually, though, you get back up (because the family is due home and you don't want them knowing how slovenly you have been). You vacuum underneath the couch and immediately discover enough rubbish to establish a small independent nation. The nation of Garbagia.
There’s a sock.
A spoon.
Three batteries.
A dog toy that nobody has seen since Christmas.
And seventeen dollars in coins, which means your furniture has apparently been running a secret savings account.
That’s the thing about spring cleaning. It makes you realize how slowly your house has been becoming a cave.
Then comes the furniture rearrangement.
This is when you start thinking like an interior designer despite having absolutely no qualifications.
You move the coffee table six inches to the left.
You stand there.
You nod.
“Yeah. That’s better.”
You move it six inches back.
“Yep.”
This is apparently what people mean when they talk about interior design.
Eventually, you start looking at the rest of the furniture.
Maybe it’s time for some new recliner chairs, Toowoomba?
Maybe the couch has had enough.
Maybe you should check out some furniture stores Toowoomba has to offer and see what’s out there.
But then you remember how much you love your current chair, especially now that it is both LaZboy comfortable AND it's clean!
So you sit down.
Feet up.
Spring breeze coming through the window.
House finally clean.
And you realize something important:
The whole point of spring cleaning was just to make the house nice enough that you could sit in the recliner without feeling guilty.
That’s not laziness.
That’s interior design.
