See, normally, the side panels of the bed have clips on them that screw into other clips that are found on the bedhead and the foot. 

Not the Palo. The side panel slots INTO the timber of the bedhead and foot... and is not then screwed into place. It's BOLTED in with 8 ENOURMOUS bolts to ensure that the weakest point in THIS bed is the strongest point in just about anything else!
